Why I am running
Newburyport is thriving, but there’s more work to do.
Over the past three years, I’ve been honored to serve as your Mayor, leading with a vision for a stronger, more resilient, and more connected Newburyport. Together, we’ve made tremendous progress—investing in infrastructure, sustainability, public safety, housing, and community services to improve the lives of all residents.
Now, I’m running for re-election to continue building on this momentum and ensure that Newburyport remains a place where families, businesses, and individuals can grow and thrive.
Accomplishments over the past 4 years

Paved over 50 streets and implemented a rolling 5-year streets and sidewalks plan
Opened the new state-of-the-art John F. Cutter Jr. West End Fire Station, the City’s first ‘net zero’ municipal building, improving public safety and sustainability
Advanced the Lower Atkinson Common traffic safety project, enhancing park access and stormwater management to reduce flooding
Replaced 120 downtown streetlights with LED fixtures, improving sustainability, accessibility, and safety
Completed the Philips Drive drainage project to mitigate flooding in this neighborhood

Completed Market Landing Park improvements, enhancing a key public space
Completed the waterfront bulkhead project to strengthen our shoreline
Completed the Federal Navigation Channel Dredge Project, restoring Plum Island’s coastline with much-needed sand nourishment
Launched the Nock Middle School tennis courts project to expand athletic opportunities
Made major investments in parks, consolidating the Parks Division under Public Services for better efficiency and maintenance

Expanded our composting program to schools, City Hall, and the Senior Community Center
Increased the Smart Growth District near the train station and updated Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) zoning regulations to align with the Affordable Homes Act
Advanced the Brown School Adaptive Reuse Project, creating affordable senior housing
Facilitated a friendly 40B development to bring much-needed housing to the vacant Kmart site

Designed Newburyport High School as an Innovation Career Pathways District in the Environmental and Life Sciences Sector
Created the annual Public and Community Service Awards to honor those who make a difference in our city
Purchased 59 Low St., the future home of Newburyport Recreation and Youth Services
Progressed designs toward a new Recreation and Youth Services Center, ensuring more opportunities for our community members
Developed a new Capital Improvement Plan, setting the stage for long-term growth and smart investments
